The Saratoga Chamber Players began a project in music composition at Lake Avenue Elementary School in Saratoga Springs, NY with the students of Megan O’Sullivan and the support of the Alfred B. Solomon Fund.
Using an adaptation of “The Little Prince” by St. Exupéry, the students transformed the story into sounds with the guidance of Eliot Bailen, one of SCP’s cellists, and their teacher, Megan O’Sullivan. Using the score created from the students’ suggestions, Bailen developed a score to sing and to be played by the 5th grade orchestra. The final concert included Jill Levy, violin; Eliot Bailen, cello and Susan Rotholz, flute.
Here’s a link to their concert at the school, recorded by Dave Womer.
